Shimla Police Busts Drug Network, Arrests Two Traffickers Linked to Sandeep Shah’s Gang

In a significant breakthrough under the ‘Mission Clean’ campaign, Shimla Police have apprehended two drug traffickers associated with the notorious Sandeep Shah gang, responsible for supplying chitta (a form of heroin) across Himachal Pradesh. The arrests were made in Delhi, following a meticulous investigation based on online financial transactions. According to police sources, the accused are brothers from Haryana, identified as 20-year-old Ashish alias Gandhi and 22-year-old Ajay alias Manish alias Goswami alias Ravan, both residents of Birbal Nagar, Nirvana, Jind district, Haryana.

The duo is accused of managing a network that facilitated the distribution of chitta not only in Shimla but also in other districts of Himachal Pradesh. Their arrest comes as part of an intensified crackdown on drug trafficking networks operating in the region. The police revealed that the financial transactions linked to their activities were instrumental in tracing their movements and securing their arrest.

Sandeep Shah, the kingpin of the gang, was previously arrested and is alleged to have operated an extensive drug racket across northern India, including Himachal Pradesh. Shah’s network reportedly sourced chitta from Kolkata and managed a well-organized supply chain to various states. Following his arrest, Shimla Police have accelerated efforts to dismantle his network, which has led to the apprehension of over 50 individuals connected to the gang so far. However, more than 200 traffickers remain under the police radar, with multiple teams deployed to trace and arrest them.

The crackdown is part of a broader initiative by Shimla Police to curb the rising menace of drug abuse in the region. The authorities have intensified surveillance and investigative operations, focusing on both the suppliers and the distribution channels. The arrest of Ashish and Ajay is seen as a major success, providing critical insights into the operational dynamics of the Shah gang. The police are now interrogating the accused to gather further information about the network’s financial transactions, supply routes, and potential international links.

The residents of Shimla and surrounding areas have lauded the efforts of the police, expressing hope that such actions will significantly curb the spread of narcotics. The authorities have also urged the public to assist in the fight against drug trafficking by providing information about suspicious activities. As the investigation progresses, more arrests are expected in the coming days, signaling an unrelenting pursuit by the Shimla Police to cleanse the region of drug networks.
