
SJVN Celebrates International Women’s Day 2025 with a Call to Accelerate Action for Gender Equality

SJVN, a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE), marked International Women’s Day 2025 with a grand event in Shimla, embracing this year’s theme, “Accelerate Action”. The celebration saw the participation of around 200 women, including employees and members of the SJVN Ladies Club, all coming together to emphasize the urgent need for concrete actions to promote gender equality and empower women in every sphere of life. The event showcased inspiring addresses by distinguished speakers, insightful panel discussions, and a collective resolve to drive meaningful change within the organization and beyond.
Sh. Ajay Kumar Sharma, Director (Personnel) of SJVN, graced the occasion and highlighted the organization’s unwavering commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace. He emphasized that empowering women is not merely a policy for SJVN but a core value that significantly contributes to the company’s success. Sh. Sharma’s address resonated with the theme of the event, underlining the importance of taking swift and decisive steps to bridge gender gaps and ensure equal opportunities for women. His remarks reinforced SJVN’s ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing female representation in leadership roles and creating an environment where women can thrive professionally.
The event also featured addresses by two eminent personalities — Smt. Satwant Atwal, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Government of Himachal Pradesh, and Dr. Puja Negi Rajta, Associate Professor at IGMC Shimla. Smt. Satwant Atwal shared her inspiring journey in law enforcement, a field traditionally dominated by men. She spoke passionately about the challenges and triumphs she faced, emphasizing that with determination and adequate support, women can break barriers and excel in any field. Her words served as a powerful motivation for women to pursue diverse career paths without fear or hesitation.
Dr. Puja Negi Rajta’s address focused on the indispensable role of women in the healthcare sector.
