SJVN Organizes Swachhta Pakhwada 2024 for Clean and Green Environment

SJVN (Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited) is observing Swachhta Pakhwada (Cleanliness Fortnight) 2024 in all its offices and projects across India from May 16th to 31st. This initiative reinforces the company’s commitment to environmental cleanliness and sustainability.

Swachhta Pledge Administered

The program commenced with Chairman & Managing Director Sushil Sharma administering the Swachhta Pledge to employees at the Liaison Office, New Delhi. Director (Finance) Akhileshwar Singh, CVO Prem Prakash, and other senior officials were also present. The pledge was simultaneously administered at SJVN’s corporate office in Shimla and 22 other project locations.

Importance of Individual Responsibility Emphasized

Sharma highlighted the significance of individual accountability in maintaining a clean and healthy society. He encouraged employees to actively participate in cleanliness drives and initiatives at work and in their communities.

Swachhta Pakhwada: A Tradition of Cleanliness

SJVN has organized Swachhta Pakhwada since 2016. Every year, employees collaborate with local communities in various activities like cleanliness drives, awareness programs, and more. This year’s focus is on intensive sanitation efforts within the organization’s operational areas.

• Cleanliness drives in prominent public places.
• Bio-composting of office canteen waste.
• Shramdan (voluntary community service) by SJVN employees in surrounding areas.
• Awareness drives to discourage plastic use and promote eco-friendly materials.
• Setting up a system for recycling office waste paper.
• Community tree plantation drives.
• Cleanliness drives for rivers near SJVN projects across various states.
• Organizing workshops, Swachhta exhibitions, expert talks, and street plays (nukkad nataks)
• Special campaigns on segregation of solid waste and liquid waste management (SLWM) facilities, along with vermicomposting.

SJVN’s Recognition for Cleanliness Efforts

SJVN’s dedication to cleanliness has been recognized with the prestigious 1st prize in the Swachhta Pakhwada Award by the Ministry of Power, Government of India, during 2018, 2022, and 2023.
