SJVN’s Green Energy Arm Secures 360 MW Solar Power Project in Gujarat
Shimla, January 24, 2024 – Sh. Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director of SJVN, announced a significant milestone as SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), the renewable subsidiary, inked a Contract Agreement with M/s Solar World Energy Solutions Private Limited, Noida, for the Balance of System (BoS) of a 360 MW Solar Power Project. The agreement also encompasses the Operation and Maintenance of the Solar PV Plant for a three-year duration. The signing ceremony was graced by Sh. Akhileshwar Singh, Director (Finance) SJVN, Sh. Ajay Singh, CEO, SGEL, and senior officials from both SGEL and Solar World Energy Solutions.

Sh. Nand Lal Sharma disclosed that the upcoming 360 MW Solar Power Project, situated in Bhuj, District Kutch, Gujarat, is set to be developed by SJVN through SGEL. The project was secured through a Build Own & Operate model in a competitive bidding process conducted by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL). A pivotal Power Purchase Agreement spanning 25 years has been successfully executed between SGEL and GUVNL.
Anticipated to generate 901.87 million units in its inaugural year, the cumulative energy production over the project’s 25-year lifespan is projected at approximately 21,244 million units. The commissioning of this solar initiative is poised to curtail carbon emissions by a noteworthy 1,040,975 tonnes, aligning with the Government of India’s mission for a carbon-neutral economy. This endeavor underscores SJVN’s commitment to sustainable and eco-friendly energy solutions.
