Smooth Procurement of Paddy and Millet Crops Continues in Haryana with Direct MSP Payments to Farmers
Chandigarh, October 28 – The procurement process for paddy and millet crops in Haryana is progressing smoothly under the guidance of Chief Minister Shri Naib Singh Saini. Following the CM’s directives, the state government is ensuring the purchase of every grain of these crops at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) to benefit farmers. Notably, Haryana has already made payments amounting to INR 8,931 crore directly to farmers’ bank accounts, including INR 8,084 crore for paddy and INR 847 crore for millet farmers.
According to a spokesperson from the Food and Supplies Department, paddy and millet procurement is running effectively in various state mandis. As of now, 4,550,473 metric tons of paddy have arrived in these mandis, out of which 4,302,418 metric tons have been purchased by government agencies at MSP. The transport of procured paddy from mandis is ongoing to avoid any delays. Similarly, 430,193 metric tons of millet have arrived, with 417,771 metric tons being procured at MSP.
To further support farmers, the department has introduced an online gate pass system to simplify mandi access, reducing waiting time and making the selling process hassle-free. The state government is offering INR 2,300 per quintal as the MSP for general-grade paddy and INR 2,320 per quintal for Grade-A paddy. Senior officials are closely monitoring the procurement process to maintain transparency and efficiency.
In district-wise data for paddy procurement, Kurukshetra leads with 962,575 metric tons of paddy, of which 935,432 metric tons have been purchased. Karnal follows with 808,728 metric tons of paddy, with 794,323 metric tons procured, while Kaithal has seen an inflow of 786,955 metric tons, of which 772,039 metric tons have been bought. In Ambala, 519,087 metric tons have arrived, and 474,075 metric tons have been procured. Yamunanagar has recorded 513,520 metric tons of paddy, with 480,191 metric tons purchased, and Fatehabad has witnessed 459,677 metric tons, with 409,851 metric tons procured. Other districts like Jind, Sirsa, and Panchkula have also contributed significantly to paddy arrivals and procurement.
Mahendragarh has reported the highest arrival and purchase of millet, with 106,732 metric tons arriving and 105,841 metric tons procured. In Rewari, 95,130 metric tons of millet have arrived, with 94,115 metric tons bought. Meanwhile, Bhiwani recorded 68,545 metric tons of millet, of which 65,780 metric tons have been purchased.
