A South Korean delegation, led by Mr. Jung Won Joo, President of Korea Herald and Daewoo Corporation and Chairman of the Korea Housing Builders Association, met Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Naib Singh Saini in Gurugram on November 21, 2024. During the interactive session, the Chief Minister outlined the state’s commitment to supporting Korean businesses and facilitating their growth in Haryana. He also expressed willingness to identify land near the National Capital Region (NCR) for potential developments such as a Korean city, which would foster further economic ties.
The Chief Minister emphasized Haryana’s ambition to collaborate with South Korea in key sectors including auto textiles, food processing, and real estate. He highlighted the mutual cultural and spiritual connections between India and South Korea and stressed the significance of city-to-city cooperation to promote best practices and create opportunities for both nations. The Haryana government is eager to bring South Korean businesses and innovations into the state’s ecosystem, strengthening its international identity.
Mr. Saini also invited South Korea to be a partner country at the upcoming International Gita Mahotsav, a major cultural event hosted annually in Haryana. He proposed that South Korea join Tanzania as a partner nation for this prestigious festival, further cementing the cultural ties between the two regions.
The Chief Minister noted that the current government in Haryana, formed under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the third consecutive term, is fully committed to fostering a business-friendly environment. The Haryana government will ensure that no obstacles arise for Korean businesses and that full support is provided for their ventures in the state.
Mr. Jung Won Joo expressed his gratitude to the Haryana government for the warm welcome and mentioned his plans to bring the Star Lake City project, which is currently under development in Vietnam, to Haryana. He also revealed that 70 delegates from 22 Korean companies will attend the upcoming Haryana-Korea Business Connect event.
