State Election Commission Announces Schedule for Electoral Rolls in Tarn Taran, Dera Baba Nanak, and Talwara

Chandigarh, January 21, 2025: The State Election Commission has released the schedule for the preparation of electoral rolls for the upcoming general elections to the Municipal Councils of Tarn Taran (District Tarn Taran), Dera Baba Nanak (District Gurdaspur), and Talwara (District Hoshiarpur). The announcement was made on January 20, 2025, with State Election Commissioner Raj Kamal Chaudhuri providing key details.

As per the schedule, the preparation of draft electoral rolls will take place from January 20 to January 24, 2025, with a qualifying date of January 1, 2025. The draft rolls will be published on January 25, 2025. Citizens can file claims and objections from January 27 to February 3, 2025, with their disposal scheduled for completion by February 11, 2025. Final electoral rolls will be published on February 14, 2025.

Deputy Commissioners-cum-District Election Officers in Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur, and Hoshiarpur have been directed to ensure wide publicity of the draft rolls. Eligible voters aged 18 and above are encouraged to verify their details, apply for inclusion, or file objections within the prescribed timeline to ensure their participation in the elections.

The Commission has urged all eligible residents under the jurisdiction of these municipal councils to ensure their registration in the voter list during the claims and objections period, enabling them to exercise their democratic right in the upcoming elections.
