State-Level ‘Amrit Kalash Yatra’ Celebrates Unity and Patriotism in Chandigarh
A State-Level event titled ‘Amrit Kalash Yatra’ took place today at Tagore Theatre in Sector 18, Chandigarh. The event’s theme was ‘Mitti ko naman, Veero ka Vandan.’ Sh. Banwarilal Purohit, the Hon’ble Administrator of UT Chandigarh, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The function saw the participation of officials from Chandigarh Administration, Municipal Corporation Councillors, school students, Nehru Yuva Kendra volunteers, and CRPF/BSF personnel.
The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome by the Adviser, Sh. Dharam Pal. He highlighted the significance of this event, emphasizing the celebration of our heritage and the unsung heroes who have contributed to it. The event shed light on the heroic tales of these unsung heroes, rekindling our admiration for the sacrifices they made for our motherland. During the successful first phase of the “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign, soil was collected from every household in the Municipal Corporation (MC) ward. This soil, symbolically gathered in Amrit Kalash, represents the collective blessings and aspirations of our community.
The Chief Guest, Sh. Purohit, expressed his pride and honor in participating in the ‘Meri Mitti Mera Desh’ campaign, which symbolizes unity, patriotism, and nation-building. The “Kalash Yatra” campaign was organized nationwide in 2023, during which soil was collected from all corners of the country and mixed in an Amrit Kalash. This Amrit Kalash is now being sent to Delhi for a National-Level program. The Administrator reminisced about a similar event organized by Chandigarh Administration at Tiranga Park in August. He emphasized that we are the sons of this motherland and should always cherish its values and culture. Those who sacrifice their lives for the country never truly die; instead, they become immortal, and it is our duty to remind the new generation of the supreme sacrifices made by these brave souls. Sh. Purohit administered an oath to all present at the function, urging them to serve the motherland, contribute to nation-building, and always honor the brave hearts.
The function continued with captivating patriotic-themed cultural performances by students. Subsequently, the Chief Guest and other officials planted saplings at the Tagore Theatre.
