Strengthening Child Nutrition: Refresher Training on POSHAN Tracker

From February 26 to February 28, 2024, a comprehensive refresher training session was conducted at Bal Bhawan, Sector 23, Chandigarh, focusing on the updated version (20.3) of the Poshan Tracker Application and Dashboard. The session, aimed at enhancing the capacity of Anganwadi workers, delved into the functionality of the POSHAN Tracker and provided insights into the latest updates integrated into the application.

Training Highlights

Poshan Tracker Functionality**: The session, led by a Consultant from NeGD, MoWCD, provided a detailed overview of the POSHAN Tracker’s functionality, covering aspects such as daily attendance, beneficiary data management, and growth monitoring data updating.

Specialized Growth Monitoring Training**: In addition to the refresher session, specialized growth monitoring training sessions were organized to ensure accurate documentation of vital metrics for beneficiaries, including pregnant women, lactating mothers, newborn babies, and children up to 6 years of age. These sessions, supervised by medical experts from AIIMS, Mohali, and PGIMER, Chandigarh, aimed to uphold the highest standards of data accuracy.

Keynote Address

Dr. Palika Arora, Director Social Welfare, Women & Child Development, graced the training session on February 28, 2024. Dr. Arora emphasized the pivotal role of Anganwadi workers in utilizing insights gained from the training to ensure accurate growth monitoring of all enrolled children. She stressed the importance of diligent data entry into the POSHAN Tracker App and encouraged increased field visits to enhance program implementation.

Empowerment Initiatives

Director Social Welfare announced the department’s initiative to provide new Growth Monitoring Devices and smartphones to further empower Anganwadi workers in their endeavors. These resources aim to streamline data collection and enhance the efficiency of program delivery.

 

The refresher training sessions equipped Anganwadi workers with the necessary tools and knowledge to fulfill their vital role in promoting the health and well-being of pregnant and lactating women and children up to 6 years of age across 450 Anganwadi Centres in UT Chandigarh.

Poshan Abhiyaan and Its Impact

The POSHAN Abhiyaan, implemented with full enthusiasm in UT Chandigarh, aims to reduce malnutrition through a synergized and result-oriented approach. The rollout of the Poshan Tracker application in March 2021 has facilitated real-time monitoring of Anganwadi Services, further strengthening the program’s impact.
