Dharamsala (Arvind Sharma) 7/2/24

In a significant move towards addressing the water scarcity and enhancing the infrastructure in Dharamshala , Himachal , National Secretary of Congress and local MLA Sudhir Sharma layed the foundation stone of  the construction of 10 hand pumps and 6 tube wells on Wednesday. The projects, with an investment of Rs 1.07 crore, are set to be established in Saukani Da Kot and  Mohli, aiming to alleviate the water shortage issues faced by the residents.

Sharma, during the foundation stone laying ceremony, expressed his commitment to fulfilling the public’s demands, emphasizing that these initiatives are in direct response to the persistent water scarcity concerns in the area. He also addressed the frequent complaints regarding the malfunctioning of electric hand pump motors in the lower panchayats, directing the Jal Shakti Department’s senior officials to ensure their immediate repair and reinstatement.

Further extending his developmental agenda, Sharma announced the restoration of defunct irrigation and drinking water schemes within the Dharamshala vicinity. Additionally, he laid the foundation for community centers in Tang Narwana Panchayat and Kashmiri Colony of Dari, marking a significant step towards community development.

Recognizing the agrarian dominance in the Dharamshala constituency, Sharma highlighted the issues faced by the farming community, including the lack of veterinary medicines and the delayed dissemination of information regarding departmental schemes for cattle rearers. He has mandated the Veterinary Department to organize more camps in villages to bridge this information gap and ensure that abandoned animals are promptly sent to cow sanctuaries, stating a zero-tolerance policy towards negligence.

Sharma also shed light on the rapid progress of various projects aimed at beautifying and upgrading the Dharamshala area. The development of parks to augment the city’s green spaces, the removal of garbage heaps in Sudhed to make way for a new park, and the commendable condition of the Smart Road under the Smart City initiative were highlighted as key achievements. He emphasized the swift advancement of projects like the data center and city surveillance, urging officials associated with the smart city project to adhere to deadlines strictly. Furthermore, Sharma issued a stern warning against delays in work, signaling a no-compromise attitude towards efficiency and timeliness in public works development, holding PWD officials to account.

These initiatives underscore Sudhir Sharma’s dedication to improving the living standards in Dharamshala, addressing both infrastructural needs and the well-being of its residents and agricultural communities.
