THDC India Limited and NHPC jointly organized a warm farewell ceremony at THDCIL’s Corporate Headquarters in Rishikesh to honor and bid adieu to Sh. Alok Kumar (IAS), the Former Secretary of the Ministry of Power, Government of India. The event was attended by esteemed dignitaries and senior officials from both organizations.
During the ceremony, Sh. R. K. Vishnoi, Chairman and Managing Director of THDC India Limited, praised Sh. Alok Kumar’s illustrious career as a 1988 batch IAS Officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre. Over three decades, Sh. Alok Kumar held significant administrative positions in various sectors, including Revenue, Transport, Power, Housing, Urban Planning, and Handicrafts.
Sh. Vishnoi highlighted Sh. Alok Kumar’s invaluable contributions during his tenure as Principal Secretary of Energy and Additional Sources of Energy for the Government of Uttar Pradesh and as Development Commissioner of Handlooms in the Ministry of Textiles. He also served as Chairman of State Public Sector Undertakings under the Energy Department of the Government of Uttar Pradesh.
Reaching the pinnacle of his career, Sh. Alok Kumar served as Secretary (Power) in the Government of India from February 2021 to June 2023. Under his dynamic leadership and visionary policies, India’s Power Sector underwent a complete transformation, especially the Hydro Sector, contributing significantly to the nation’s overall development.
The ceremony witnessed the presence of senior officers from the Ministry of Power, Directors of THDCIL and NHPC, and other officials expressing their gratitude for Sh. Alok Kumar’s service and wishing him success in his future endeavors.
Sh. Alok Kumar expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the warm farewell extended by Sh. R. K. Vishnoi, Chairman and Managing Director of THDCIL and NHPC. He lauded the commendable contributions of THDCIL and NHPC to the nation’s overall economic development, particularly in the Hydro Sector, under the outstanding leadership of Sh. R. K. Vishnoi.
In a mesmerizing end to the evening, a cultural program featuring renowned Bollywood singer Ms. Mahalakshmi Iyer enthralled the audience.
THDC India Limited is a premier power generator in the country with an installed capacity of 1587 MW, including Tehri Dam & HPP (1000MW) and Koteshwar HEP (400MW) in Uttarakhand, Wind Power Projects of 50MW at Patan & 63MW at Dwarka in Gujarat, 24MW Dhukwan Small Hydro Project in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, and 50 MW Solar Power Project at Kasaragod, Kerala.
The farewell ceremony served as a fitting tribute to Sh. Alok Kumar’s distinguished career and contributions to the Power Sector, leaving a lasting impact on the nation’s development.
