Chandigarh, August 26:

Responding with statistics to the various issues of the state raised by the Governor in his letter, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today said that his government is continuously working for the welfare of the people, which is yielding positive results.

Regarding law and order in the state, the Chief Minister said that his government has taken extensive steps to ensure the protection of law and order. Giving an example of the pleasant atmosphere of the state, the Chief Minister said that since March, 2022, an investment of 50871 crore rupees has been made in the state and 3420 projects have been approved. He said that the country’s second steel plant is being set up in Ludhiana by Tata Steel. Similarly, investments are being made by Sanathan, Nestle, Nabha Power Plant. He said that there has been a record 2.70 lakh registration of micro, small and medium industries in the state and Punjab has got the first position in North India and these figures have also been presented by the Government of India in the Rajya Sabha. He said that a leading magazine of the country has given Punjab the second position in the report issued about its better law and order system. He said that it is very sad that his government is working to implement the development and welfare schemes of the state, while the governor is pleasing his bosses through such letters.

In response to the question raised by the Governor about the problem of drugs in the state, the Chief Minister said that his government has started a war against drugs. So far 23518 drug traffickers have been arrested, 17623 FIRs have been registered, 1627 kg of heroin has been seized, Rs 13.29 crore has been recovered from the traffickers and the properties of 66 drug traffickers have been seized and the rest are under seizure. Proceedings for Referring to the action being taken against gangsterism in the state, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that his government had formed an anti-gangster task force and had so far arrested 753 dangerous gangsters and seized a large quantity of arms and vehicles. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that his government is taking more stringent steps to eradicate drugs.

The Chief Minister said that 600 units of free electricity are being provided to the people of the state and 90 percent of the people are getting zero bills. He said that so far more than 31,000 youth of the state have been given government jobs and more than 12000 raw teachers have been confirmed, so that the future of the youth can be secured. Referring to the steps taken for the welfare of the farmers, the Chief Minister said that it was the first time that the cooperative sugar mill had paid all the dues of the sugarcane growers.
