Theme art workshops bring master artists under one roof
CHANDIGARH
One of the key spotlights of the 14th Chandigarh National Crafts Mela was an on-the-spot photography competition on the theme “Glimpses from Crafts Mela” organized by the Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademy under the aegis of the NZCC.
The competition was open to all categories of participants and the winners were given the prizes and mementoes.
The jury comprised eminent photographers Surender Mohan Dhami and Bhupinder Brar. The winners of the competition were S Pugazhendhi (ist), Bharti Vandna (ist runners-up), and Jagdeep Kumar (IInd runners-up).
Theme workshops were also organized during the 10-day long cultural activity.
Some of the iconic artists, who took part in the workshops, were Sumeshan (Kerala), Snober Jeelani (Srinagar-Kashmir) Navakash, (Guwahati- (Assam), Govind Vishwas (Vadodra- Gujarat), Kusumlata Sharma (Bhopal- (MP), Rajesh Siwach and Pradeep Singh both from Chandigarh,
Art workshop was organized during the event, under the theme “Colours of Indian” in which artists from the tricity and other parts of the country participarted. Prominent among them included Mohinder Tuli Collage making (Chandigarh), Kuldeep (Chandigarh) sculpture, Bharat Bedi (Chandigarh) B/W drawings, and Sanjay Dhawan (Ambala) Cardboard compositions.
Those responsible for the installation of ‘Colours of India’ were the students of CCA, Yash Bhargava and Naina.
CLKA Chairman Bheem Malhotra on the occasion said that the idea behind holding such theme workshops was to promoting and preserving various forms of ancient art forms of our country facing threats of extinctions.
