Three IAS officers of Punjab found guilty, ordered to take action by November 20
The Punjab and Haryana High Court has found three IAS officers of Punjab guilty and ordered them to take action by November 20. If they fail to do so, they have been asked to be punished.
In this case, Additional Chief Secretary cum Finance Commissioner Vikas Garg, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Mohali Ramakant Mishra, and Principal Secretary of Local Government Department Ajay Sharma have been found guilty.
The High Court has said that if these officers do not take action by November 20, the next date of hearing in the case, they will be punished.
The case is related to a petition filed by the Gram Panchayat of Badi Karoran village near Naya Gaon. In 2010, 1092 acres of land in the villages of Badi Karoran and Nada were de-listed from the Punjab Land Preservation Act. However, a condition was imposed that no commercial activity or construction would be carried out on this land.
However, later this land was divided into two parts and one part was sold to a private company. This company started commercial activities on the land.
The Gram Panchayat had filed a petition in the High Court in this matter. After hearing the case, the High Court has found the three IAS officers guilty.
The High Court has said that these officers failed to discharge their responsibility and did not ensure compliance with the conditions of de-listing the land.
In this case, the High Court has ordered the three IAS officers to take action by November 20. If action is not taken by November 20, these officers will be punished.
