In a tragic turn of events, three dedicated security force officers, including an Army Colonel, were martyred during a fierce gunfight with terrorists in the Kokernag area of Kashmir’s Anantnag district. The incident unfolded on Wednesday, leaving the nation in mourning.
The fallen heroes have been identified as Colonel Manpreet Singh, Major Ashish, and Deputy Superintendent of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Humayun Bhat. They displayed exceptional bravery and commitment to their duty, paying the ultimate price for the safety and security of the region.
The confrontation with the terrorists began on Tuesday evening in the Gadole area but was temporarily halted during the night. However, intelligence reports suggested that the terrorists had resurfaced at a hideout, prompting a renewed pursuit this morning.
Colonel Manpreet Singh, leading his team from the front, launched an attack on the terrorists. Tragically, he was met with enemy gunfire and sustained critical injuries. Despite the valiant efforts of the security forces, all three officers succumbed to their injuries, with Deputy Superintendent Humayun Bhat tragically losing his life due to heavy blood loss.
