Title: Punjab Government Launches Urgent Relief Operations in Response to Devastating Floods

Chandigarh- In a concerted effort to safeguard lives and minimize property damage, the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has mobilized its resources on a war footing to normalize the situation created by the severe floods affecting the state.

Following the Chief Minister’s directives, relief operations have been accelerated, resulting in the successful evacuation of 26,280 individuals to safer locations. As of 8 am on July 18, 1,432 villages have been adversely affected by the floods. To provide immediate assistance, a total of 155 relief camps have been set up across the state, currently accommodating 3,828 people.

Nineteen districts in Punjab have been significantly impacted by the floods, including Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Fatehgarh Sahib, Faridkot, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar, Kapurthala, Patiala, Moga, Ludhiana, SAS Nagar, Jalandhar, Sangrur, SBS Nagar, Fazilka, Gurdaspur, Mansa, Bathinda, and Pathankot.

The revenue department has reported a total of 38 fatalities, 15 injuries, and 2 missing persons due to the floods, as received from various districts. Furthermore, the animal husbandry department has treated 2,198 animals and administered vaccinations to 7,243 animals across the state. Rescue teams from the department are working tirelessly to provide treatment, feed, fodder, and silage to animals in need. Special flood relief camps have also been established in affected districts.

The health department’s teams are diligently operating in flood-affected areas, with 458 Rapid Response Teams (RRT) deployed for immediate assistance. Additionally, 244 medical camps have been established, with a total of 8,531 outpatient departments (OPDs) serving the affected populace.

The distribution of dry food packets remains ongoing in flood-affected areas. Rupnagar has received 21,971 packets, Patiala 64,000 packets, SAS Nagar 4,000 packets, SBS Nagar 5,700 packets, and Fatehgarh Sahib 2,200 packets.

The Punjab Government continues to prioritize relief operations, aiming to provide essential support and assistance to those affected by the devastating floods. Efforts are being made to restore normalcy and ensure the well-being of the affected communities.
