Traffic Advisory Issued for Naib Singh Saini’s Swearing-in Ceremony on October 17 in Panchkula
With the swearing-in ceremony of Haryana’s Chief Minister-designate Naib Singh Saini scheduled for October 17 in Panchkula, the city will experience significant VVIP movement on Wednesday and Thursday. To manage the anticipated traffic congestion, the Chandigarh Police have issued a detailed traffic advisory for the general public, warning of road closures and diversions across the city.
As part of traffic management, Panchkula Police has also provided parking arrangements and road closures for those attending the ceremony at Shalimar Ground. Legislators, MPs, senior IAS and IPS officers, industrialists, and government officials attending the event will have designated parking spots. To streamline the process, attendees will receive invitations with a QR code, guiding them to the designated parking areas via Google Maps, ensuring a hassle-free experience.
Traffic Restrictions and Road Diversions:
1. Road Closures:
Key roads in Panchkula will be either closed or have traffic diverted. Roads around Shalimar Ground, the venue for the ceremony, will remain closed to regular traffic. The general public is advised to avoid taking their vehicles toward these areas.
2. Restricted Routes:
Several routes will be restricted to accommodate VVIP movements on Wednesday:
Southern Route: Traffic will be diverted/restricted between Airport Light Point and Tribune Chowk.
Eastern Route: Traffic will be restricted from Tribune Chowk to Transport Light Point.
Central Route: Roads between Transport Light Point and Dhillon Barrier will also be diverted/closed.
3. Closure Timings:
The key road closures are expected during these hours:
11:30 AM to 12:30 PM
3:00 PM to 4:00 PM
Additionally, other roads may see traffic diversions or restrictions based on the movement of VVIP convoys. Commuters are advised to follow alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion.
Parking Guidelines:
Public is advised not to park vehicles in restricted areas, including cycle tracks, pedestrian pathways, or “No Parking” zones. Any violations will result in the vehicle being towed as per the law.
To minimize inconvenience, the authorities have urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel on restricted routes during the ceremony times. For any further updates or alternative routes, commuters should follow traffic police instructions.
