Union Finance Minister Sitharaman Holds Extensive Pre-Budget Consultations, Assures Consideration of Stakeholder Inputs
In the lead-up to the Union Budget 2024-25, Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman held extensive pre-budget consultations, engaging with over 120 invitees across 10 stakeholder groups, including experts and representatives from farmer associations, agriculture economists, trade unions, education and health sectors, employment and skilling, MSMEs, trade and services, industry, economists, financial sector and capital markets, as well as infrastructure, energy, and urban sectors. The consultations were also attended by Union Ministers of State for Finance Shri Pankaj Chaudhary, Finance Secretary and Secretary Expenditure Dr. T.V. Somanathan, Secretary of the Department of Economic Affairs Shri Ajay Seth, Secretary of the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management Shri Tuhin K. Pandey, Secretary of the Department of Financial Services Shri Vivek Joshi, Secretary of the Department of Revenue Shri Sanjay Malhotra, Secretary of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs Shri Manoj Govil, Secretaries of the relevant Ministries, Chief Economic Adviser Dr. V. Anantha Nageswaran, and senior officers from the Ministry of Finance and other concerned Ministries. During the consultations, Union Finance Minister Smt. Sitharaman expressed gratitude to the participants for their valuable suggestions and assured that their inputs would be carefully examined and considered while preparing the Union Budget 2024-25, reflecting the government’s commitment to a collaborative and inclusive approach to economic policymaking.
