Weather Alert: Heavy Rainfall and Snowfall Expected in Himachal Pradesh

The Meteorological Center in Shimla has issued an Orange Alert for Himachal Pradesh due to the forecast of heavy rainfall and snowfall. The state is gearing up for another round of substantial precipitation, with Thursday experiencing sunny days across the region.

In an afternoon bulletin released on Thursday, the Meteorological Center informed that a western disturbance is approaching Himachal Pradesh. The Western Disturbance’s impact will commence on February 17, marked by a Yellow Alert. Subsequently, from February 18 to 20, an Orange Alert will be in effect, anticipating heavy rainfall, storms, snowfall, and avalanches. A Yellow Alert will persist on February 21. Consequently, adverse weather conditions are expected to prevail in Himachal Pradesh for the next five days. The Meteorological Department has advised the government to stay prepared in light of this alert.
