The Bharatiya Janata Party has delivered a strong performance in the Haryana civic body elections, further consolidating its political dominance in the state. After securing victories in Ambala and Sonipat, the BJP also emerged victorious in the Panchkula Municipal Corporation elections, where the party established a commanding lead across the majority of wards.

According to the election trends and results declared so far, the BJP either won or maintained leads in 17 out of the 20 wards in Panchkula Municipal Corporation. The party’s mayoral candidate, Shyamlal Bansal, also opened up a significant lead over his Congress rival, reinforcing the BJP’s growing urban support base in Haryana.
The counting of votes for the municipal elections began at 8 am on May 13, following polling conducted on May 10. The elections covered several key civic bodies across the state, including mayoral and ward councillor elections in Ambala, Panchkula and Sonipat Municipal Corporations. Elections were also held for the posts of president and councillors in Rewari Municipal Council, along with municipal committee elections in Sampla in Rohtak district, Dharuhera in Rewari district and Uklana in Hisar district.
Apart from the main civic elections, by-elections were also conducted in one ward each in Tohana, Jhajjar, Rajaund, Taraori, Kanina and Sadhaura.
In Sonipat, BJP candidate Rajiv Jain secured victory and is set to become mayor once again. Ambala also witnessed a clear victory for the BJP, adding further momentum to the party’s statewide performance.
Reacting to the results, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini thanked the people of the state and BJP workers for the party’s success in the municipal elections. He said the results reflected the people’s trust in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP government’s development-oriented policies.
The Chief Minister stated that the people of Haryana had once again voted in favour of development, good governance and politics centered around public welfare and national interest. He also praised BJP workers for their dedication and hard work, saying their efforts played a crucial role in securing the victory.
Haryana BJP president Mohan Lal Badoli also expressed gratitude to voters and described the results as a strong endorsement of the policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. He said the victory belonged to the BJP’s development agenda, public trust and the tireless efforts of party workers at the grassroots level.
Political observers believe the civic poll results have provided a significant morale boost to the BJP in Haryana and strengthened the party’s position in urban local bodies. The outcome is also being viewed as an indicator of continued public support for the BJP leadership in the state.
