Dharamshala Mayor Election Postponed Due to Lack of Quorum

Dharamshala (Arvind Sharma)

The election for the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of the Dharamshala Municipal Corporation was postponed on Sunday after the required two-thirds quorum could not be achieved.

Earlier in the day, Kangra Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly elected councillors of the Municipal Corporation during a ceremony held in Dharamshala.

Following the oath-taking ceremony, the administration had scheduled the election of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor. However, the election process could not proceed as the mandatory two-thirds quorum was not met. Officials said a fresh date for the election will be announced separately.

According to administrative sources, the quorum fell short after Congress-supported councillors remained absent from the proceedings following the oath ceremony.
