In a significant step towards strengthening employment opportunities for technically skilled youth, the Himachal Pradesh government has launched the ‘Takniki Rozgar Setu’ portal, a first-of-its-kind digital platform designed to seamlessly connect students, technical institutions and employers under a single integrated system. The initiative aims to modernise the recruitment ecosystem, improve industry-academia collaboration and create a transparent pathway from technical education to meaningful employment.
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu formally launched the portal on Monday evening, describing it as a major milestone in the state’s efforts to promote skill-based employment and build a technology-driven governance framework. He said the government is committed to creating a robust ecosystem where education, skills and employment opportunities are closely aligned to meet the evolving needs of industries while opening new career avenues for young people.
The Chief Minister said the ‘Takniki Rozgar Setu’ portal has been conceived as a comprehensive digital bridge that will connect aspiring professionals with employers across sectors. Students pursuing technical education will be able to create personalised digital profiles, upload details of their academic qualifications, technical skills, training programmes and professional certifications, search for suitable job opportunities, submit online applications and monitor the progress of their placements through a single platform.
According to the government, the portal has been developed to eliminate many of the traditional barriers in the recruitment process by bringing educational institutions, employers and students onto one common digital interface. This integrated approach is expected to make hiring faster, more transparent and significantly more efficient for all stakeholders.
Employers will also benefit from the platform by registering online, advertising vacancies, accessing a database of eligible candidates, shortlisting applicants and initiating recruitment procedures directly through the portal. Companies will also be able to notify the Technical Education Department about successful recruitments, enabling the government to maintain real-time placement records and assess employment trends among technically qualified youth.
Highlighting the scale of the initiative, the Chief Minister said that 164 technical institutions across Himachal Pradesh have already been integrated with the portal. These include 136 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), 18 Polytechnics, five Engineering Colleges and five Pharmacy Colleges. He informed that 26,168 students have been registered through the Him Access Integration platform, while skill mapping has already been completed for 23,054 students, creating an extensive database of trained manpower available to prospective employers.
The portal has also witnessed encouraging participation from industry, with 97 employers already registered. Beyond regular employment opportunities, the platform has been designed to support demand-based hiring of skilled professionals such as electricians, plumbers and other trained technicians, even for short-term assignments. Skilled workers can independently register themselves, allowing individuals as well as businesses to access specialised services whenever required.
Officials believe the digital platform will also strengthen institutional accountability by enabling technical institutes to maintain updated student records, verify candidate profiles and continuously monitor placement outcomes. This will help educational institutions assess the effectiveness of their training programmes while fostering stronger engagement with industry partners.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sukhu said the state government is increasingly leveraging digital technology to improve governance, enhance public service delivery and generate sustainable employment opportunities. He expressed confidence that the Takniki Rozgar Setu portal would significantly strengthen industry-academia linkages, improve the employability of technically qualified students and provide a credible recruitment platform for skilled youth seeking quality employment.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to transforming Himachal Pradesh into a hub of skilled human resources capable of meeting the changing demands of industry. By aligning technical education with market requirements and embracing digital innovation, the state aims to create a workforce that is both industry-ready and globally competitive.
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani, Principal Secretary Dr. Abhishek Jain, Director of Digital Technology and Governance Dr. Nipun Jindal, along with senior government officials, were present at the launch ceremony.
