Dharamsala (Arvind Sharma)

Himachal Pradesh Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Aniruddha Singh on Friday stressed the need for quality skill training and regular employment for rural youth under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY).

Addressing a northern regional workshop at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala, attended by representatives from eight states, he urged project implementation agencies to focus on training quality and sustainable job placements.

Highlighting Himachal Pradesh’s geographical challenges, Singh called for a region-specific approach to implementing rural development schemes. He said skill development and better employment opportunities were essential to economically empower rural youth, particularly those unable to access technical education due to financial constraints.

Officials from the Union Ministry of Rural Development and participating states also shared their views on improving the scheme’s implementation.
