New Delhi — As the Bharatiya Janata Party moves closer to appointing a new state president in Uttar Pradesh, political activity has also intensified in neighboring Haryana, where key decisions related to the party’s state leadership and government expansion are under active discussion. A high-level meeting is currently underway in the national capital to deliberate on the possible expansion of the Haryana cabinet and the selection process for the BJP’s next state president.
The meeting is being attended by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, former Chief Minister and Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, and senior RSS leader Arun Kumar, who serves as the Sah-Sarkaryavah. The presence of both senior party leadership and representatives of the Sangh indicates that the discussions are being treated as strategically significant, especially in the context of upcoming organizational restructuring within the BJP.
Sources indicate that the party is likely to appoint a central observer to oversee the process of selecting the new BJP Haryana state president. This move is in line with the party’s established organizational norms, aimed at ensuring consensus and balance between the government and the organization. The appointment of an observer would formally initiate the selection process and help streamline consultations with senior leaders and grassroots representatives.
Several names are being discussed for the post of state president. The current BJP Haryana chief, Mohan Lal Badoli, is seen as a strong contender for continuation. Alongside him, the names of two serving cabinet ministers and one former minister are also being mentioned as potential candidates. Party insiders suggest that while these names are currently prominent, the leadership could still spring a surprise by announcing a new face, keeping in line with the BJP’s past practice of unexpected organizational appointments.
The parallel developments in Uttar Pradesh, where the BJP is also in the process of appointing a new state president, have added momentum to similar exercises in Haryana. Party strategists believe that synchronizing leadership changes across states can help maintain organizational discipline and prepare the party for future electoral challenges.
The discussions in Delhi are also believed to include the possibility of expanding the Haryana cabinet, a move that could help accommodate regional and social representation while strengthening the government’s functioning. Any decision on cabinet expansion is expected to be closely linked with the organizational reshuffle, as the BJP traditionally seeks alignment between party leadership and the government.
While no official announcement has been made so far, the developments indicate that important political decisions regarding Haryana’s leadership structure are imminent. The outcome of the ongoing deliberations is expected to shape both the administrative direction of the state government and the organizational strategy of the BJP in Haryana in the coming months.
