District Police Nurpur Secures Conviction in POCSO Case, Accused Sentenced to 20 Years’ Imprisonment

In a significant development underscoring the commitment of District Police Nurpur to justice, the Hon’ble Court has convicted and sentenced Jagdish alias Pamma, son of Subhash Singh, a resident of Tadya Sumala, Post Office Dagla, Tehsil Indora, District Kangra, to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹30,000. The conviction comes under Sections 363 and 376 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

According to Ashok Rattan IPS , Superintendent of Police Nurpur,  the case was initiated following a complaint lodged by the victim’s father on November 25, 2023, at Police Station Indora. The complaint alleged that the accused had abducted the minor girl and sexually assaulted her at his residence. FIR No. 181/23 was promptly registered on November 26, 2023.

Demonstrating swift and professional response, the District Police Nurpur arrested the accused on the same day. A meticulous and impartial investigation followed, leading to the filing of a detailed chargesheet in court on January 19, 2024.

The trial concluded with the Hon’ble Court delivering its verdict on June 2, 2025, marking a milestone in the pursuit of justice for the victim.

This successful conviction highlights the efficiency, integrity, and vigilance of the District Police Nurpur in handling sensitive cases, particularly those involving crimes against children.
