Haryana BJP President Mohan Lal Badoli and Singer Rocky Mittal Accused of Gangrape and Criminal Intimidation in Kasauli Case

In a serious development, Haryana BJP president Mohan Lal Badoli and singer Rocky Mittal, also known as Jai Bhagwan, have been booked by Kasauli police on charges of gangrape and criminal intimidation. The case stems from a complaint filed by a woman on December 13, 2024. According to the FIR accessed by The Tribune, the incident occurred on July 3, 2023, when the victim, a Haryana resident, visited Himachal Pradesh with her friend and employer.

The FIR details that after checking out of a hotel in Kasauli, the victim and her friend encountered Badoli and Rocky, who initiated a conversation. Badoli reportedly introduced himself as a politician, while Rocky presented himself as a singer. They invited the victim and her friend to their room, where Rocky allegedly offered her a role in his music album, and Badoli promised a government job. The victim claims that they were coerced into consuming liquor, after which she was sexually assaulted. The accused allegedly recorded compromising videos and took explicit photographs of the victim, threatening her with dire consequences if she disclosed the incident.

The case highlights three critical aspects:

  1. Nature of the Allegations: The accusations of gangrape, coercion, and blackmail raise severe concerns, especially considering the profiles of the accused as influential individuals. This underscores the vulnerability of victims when power dynamics are exploited.
  2. Delay in Reporting: Although the incident occurred in July 2023, the FIR was filed nearly 17 months later, in December 2024. This delay, reportedly due to fear and intimidation, illustrates the challenges victims face in coming forward.
  3. Police Investigation: Solan SP Gaurav Singh confirmed that an FIR had been registered under relevant sections, and the victim’s statement has been recorded. The case is now under active investigation, and further details are awaited.

The victim also alleged that two months ago, she was summoned to Panchkula, where an attempt was made to implicate her in a false case, adding another layer of intimidation and retaliation. This raises significant questions about the misuse of power and systemic hurdles faced by survivors seeking justice.

The case has triggered widespread attention, putting a spotlight on the legal and political implications of such allegations. Authorities are under pressure to ensure a fair and transparent investigation, given the gravity of the charges and the high-profile nature of the accused. As the investigation unfolds, the focus remains on ensuring justice for the victim and holding the perpetrators accountable if found guilty.
