Chandigarh – Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini informed the state assembly that the government has transferred a total of ₹3,309 crore directly into the bank accounts of beneficiaries under various welfare schemes in recent days, reflecting what he described as the administration’s commitment to fulfilling every promise made to the people. Addressing members during the ongoing budget session, the Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government is working with a clear vision of building a “Viksit Bharat” or developed India, and the Haryana government is aligning its policies and initiatives to support that national goal while strengthening welfare delivery systems across the state.
Saini told the assembly that the government has been implementing several direct benefit transfer initiatives to ensure that financial assistance reaches citizens without delay or middlemen. As part of these measures, he said, the state government released ₹68 crore on March 3, 2026 to support 602 gaushalas across the state, highlighting the government’s commitment to protecting and promoting cattle welfare. According to the Chief Minister, these funds will help the gaushalas maintain better infrastructure, provide adequate fodder and medical care for animals, and strengthen the institutional network of cattle shelters operating across Haryana.
The Chief Minister further informed the house that on March 8, 2026, coinciding with the celebration of International Women’s Day, the state government released ₹1,357 crore under various welfare schemes benefiting nearly 3.5 million women across the state. These funds were transferred directly to the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries, reinforcing the government’s efforts to enhance women’s financial inclusion and economic security. Saini emphasized that the government considers women’s empowerment a key pillar of social development and that several schemes have been designed to provide direct financial support and opportunities for women in Haryana.
He also informed the assembly that on March 9, 2026, the government released an additional ₹1,884 crore under multiple social security and welfare schemes, ensuring support to thousands of families across the state. This amount included benefits distributed under old-age pension schemes, the Dayalu scheme, and the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana among other programs. The Chief Minister stated that these schemes are designed to provide financial stability and risk protection to vulnerable groups such as senior citizens, farmers, and economically weaker sections of society.
Saini highlighted that the cumulative transfer of ₹3,309 crore to beneficiaries in a short period demonstrates the government’s strong commitment to transparent governance and welfare delivery through digital platforms and direct bank transfers. According to him, such measures ensure that public funds reach the intended recipients quickly and efficiently, strengthening public trust in governance while eliminating leakages and administrative delays.
During his address in the assembly, the Chief Minister also spoke about a recent tragic incident that occurred in Safidon in Jind. He informed the house that the government has ordered a detailed investigation into the accident to determine the circumstances and ensure accountability. Saini further announced that the families of those who lost their lives in the incident would receive financial assistance of ₹5 lakh each from the state government. In addition, individuals who sustained injuries in the accident will be provided compensation of ₹2 lakh each as part of the government’s relief and rehabilitation measures.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the Haryana government remains committed to welfare-oriented governance and will continue to expand schemes aimed at supporting farmers, women, senior citizens, and other vulnerable sections of society. He stated that by combining welfare measures with economic development initiatives, the state government aims to ensure inclusive growth while contributing to the broader national vision of a developed and prosperous India.
