Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday welcomed Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah to the state and described Khadi as India’s proud heritage that is now fast moving from “Local to Global.” He said Khadi and Village Industries have become a powerful medium for building a self-reliant India under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Chief Minister emphasized that Khadi has registered unprecedented growth and is today making a strong mark at the international level. Calling the event a true celebration of Atmanirbhar Bharat, Saini urged the people to adopt Khadi and embrace Prime Minister Modi’s call of Buy Indian, Build India.
Saini further highlighted that it was a moment of pride for Haryana as the symbolic “Haryana Khadi Pagri” was launched by Union Home Minister Amit Shah during the program, making the occasion a festival of Swadeshi. He noted that once Khadi was only associated with the freedom movement, but today, because of Prime Minister Modi’s farsighted leadership and Amit Shah’s commitment, it has transformed into one of the most powerful mediums of self-reliance. He added that Haryana has set a target to contribute significantly to India’s growth, with a vision that by 2047, when India celebrates 100 years of Independence as a developed nation, the state’s economy will touch the mark of one trillion dollars, where Khadi and MSMEs will play a pivotal role.
The Chief Minister also underlined that the state government is moving steadily on the mantra of “Prosperity through Cooperation,” following the Centre’s guidance. Referring to the recently launched National Cooperation Policy-2025, Saini said it places focus on villages, agriculture, rural women, Dalits and tribals, while ensuring transparency, technology adoption and prioritizing the interests of cooperative members. This, he added, has enabled cooperative institutions to stand parallel with the corporate sector.
Reiterating the importance of Swadeshi, the Chief Minister said Prime Minister Modi’s push for Vocal for Local and Make in India has strengthened the movement of “Har Ghar Swadeshi” across the country. He also mentioned that the recent GST reforms announced by the Prime Minister have injected fresh momentum into the economy, giving a big push to local products by reducing costs. In Haryana alone, he said, the new GST slab system will bring benefits worth around ₹4,000 crore.
Saini expressed gratitude to Amit Shah for distributing modern machines to artisans that have replaced traditional tools, ensuring better productivity. Along with these machines, artisans are also receiving benefits from various schemes linked to Khadi and the MSME sector. He assured that the Haryana government is committed to playing a leading role in advancing the vision of Swadeshi and building a truly self-reliant India.
