In a significant push towards urban infrastructure development, Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini has approved a substantial budget of over Rs 350 crore under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) 2.0 scheme. The initiative focuses on expanding and modernizing sewerage systems in the rapidly growing urban centres of Hisar and Yamunanagar.

The Chief Minister’s decision allocates Rs 236.79 crore for comprehensive sewerage expansion in Hisar. This includes laying sewer lines ranging from 200 mm to 1200 mm across various colonies, constructing two Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs), five Intermediate Pumping Stations (IPS), one Main Pumping Station (MPS), as well as repairing and upgrading old or damaged manholes. Hisar’s long-standing issues with outdated sewerage infrastructure are expected to be significantly addressed through this project.

For Yamunanagar, the government has approved Rs 114.09 crore, aimed at providing and laying modern sewer lines in 12 newly approved colonies, including suburban areas. The expansion is set to streamline sanitation services, improve public health, and ensure sustainable urban development in the city.

The AMRUT 2.0 scheme, a flagship initiative of the Government of India, aims to ensure robust urban infrastructure in key cities, with a focus on sustainable sanitation and water management solutions. The latest approvals reflect Haryana’s commitment to aligning with national goals of urban rejuvenation.
