Pre-World Cup started in Bir Billing, 186 pilots from 30 countries are participating           Dharamshala/Biling(Arvind Sharma), 26 October     Himachal Tourism Corporation Chairman RS Bali virtually inaugurated an eight-day Cross Country Paragliding Pre World Cup event in Bir Billing, Himachal Pradesh, starting from October 26 to November 2. This event was inaugurated from Shimla through a virtual ceremony.  Kishori Lal, the Chief Parliamentary Secretary, offered prayers at the event venue and then flagged off the paragliding flights. The Cross Country Paragliding Pre World Cup is being organized by the Billing Paragliding Association (BPA) in collaboration with the Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Himachal Pradesh.  Approximately 186 participants from 30 countries have registered to participate in this tournament. It is jointly organized by the Billing Paragliding Association (BPA) and the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation. Pilots from various countries, including the United States, Australia, New Zealand, France, and Sweden, will be participating in the event.  RS Bali, the Himachal Tourism Corporation Chairman, shared that a Paragliding World Cup will soon be organized at Bir Billing, one of India’s renowned paragliding sites and considered one of the best in the world. These adventure sports events aim to promote adventure tourism in the state, and the government plans to improve facilities for paragliding to enhance the importance of Billing.  Furthermore, RS Bali highlighted the state government’s efforts to increase tourism activities both on land and in the air and water. He mentioned that the tourism department’s budget has increased significantly, from Rs 50 crore to Rs 500 crore, for the first time in the state. He also noted the decision to develop Kangra as a tourism capital, emphasizing the foresight of the Chief Minister.
