Jind is set to witness a landmark moment in India’s clean mobility journey on July 17, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the country’s first hydrogen-powered train, connecting Jind with Sonipat. Describing the visit as a historic occasion for Haryana, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said the event would usher in a new chapter of development while showcasing the country’s commitment to sustainable transportation.
Addressing a press conference at the Public Works Department Rest House in Jind on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said the launch of the hydrogen-powered train represents a significant step towards reducing dependence on conventional fossil fuels and advancing environmentally responsible transport solutions. He added that the Prime Minister would also dedicate and inaugurate development projects worth several crores of rupees, further strengthening infrastructure and public services across the state.
Highlighting the environmental focus of the event, the Chief Minister announced that the public gathering in Jind would be organised as a completely eco-friendly rally. Participants have been encouraged to use electric vehicles, while CNG-operated transport, including e-rickshaws, will also be deployed to minimise carbon emissions. The initiative, he said, reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of promoting cleaner energy alternatives and reducing the consumption of petrol and diesel.
To ensure wider public participation, arrangements are being made for the Prime Minister’s address to be broadcast live through LED screens at designated locations across Haryana, allowing lakhs of people to watch the programme simultaneously.
Speaking about the broader significance of the visit, the Chief Minister said the past 12 years under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership have elevated India’s global standing while accelerating infrastructure development across Haryana. He noted that every district in the state is now connected through the national highway network, reflecting sustained investment in connectivity and public infrastructure.
Ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit, the Chief Minister inspected both the Jind railway station and the venue of the public meeting to review preparations. He also chaired a high-level meeting at the PWD Rest House with Cabinet Ministers, legislators, senior political leaders and top government officials to assess the progress of arrangements and issue necessary directions.
During the review meeting, the Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure that every aspect of the Prime Minister’s visit is completed within the stipulated timeline. He emphasised that route planning, security arrangements, uninterrupted power supply, traffic management, drinking water facilities, sanitation, parking, barricading, medical services and other logistical arrangements should be executed without any shortcomings. He directed all departments to work in close coordination, conduct advance inspections and ensure that every responsibility is discharged efficiently for the smooth conduct of the programme.
