Punjab Chief Minister Leads Historic Fight Against Drug Menace with Youth-Led Movement

Launches Anti-Drug Campaign with Prayers, Oaths, and Games

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann launched a massive anti-drug campaign on October 18, 2023 at Sri Harimandir Sahib in Amritsar. Thousands of youth from across the state joined the Chief Minister in an Ardas ceremony, praying for the success of the campaign to eradicate drugs from Punjab.

The Chief Minister said that this is the first mass movement of its kind against drugs, and that it will break the backbone of this curse. He outlined a three-level strategy for the campaign: Aradas Karo (Pray), Sashta Lo (Take Oath), Aur Khelo (Play Games).

In the first phase of the campaign, thousands of youth joined the prayer to make Punjab drug-free. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the campaign has been started by God’s immense grace to make Punjab a completely drug-free state.

The Chief Minister also said that the campaign against drugs has been started at the ground level for the first time, and that the day is not far when this menace will be completely eradicated with the active cooperation and coordination of people. He added that on the one hand, the supply line of drugs is being broken by putting drug traffickers in jails, on the other hand, attention is being focused on the treatment and rehabilitation of drug victims.

The Chief Minister’s anti-drug campaign has been welcomed by people from all walks of life. Many experts believe that the campaign could be a turning point in the fight against drugs in Punjab.
