Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Launches Advanced Sanitation Machines, Announces Key Infrastructure and Youth Empowerment Initiatives

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday inaugurated a major sanitation initiative by flagging off 216 state-of-the-art super suction-cum-jetting machines. These machines, procured at a cost of Rs 14.30 crore, will be deployed across seven districts—Sangrur, Barnala, Bathinda, Malerkotla, Mansa, Patiala, and Fatehgarh Sahib. The initiative aims to improve sanitation facilities and ensure better sewage management in urban areas.

Addressing a gathering at Ranbir College, Mann emphasized the transformative impact of these modern machines, stating that sanitation workers will no longer have to enter manholes manually. Instead, they will be trained to operate these advanced machines, ensuring greater safety and efficiency in sewage cleaning operations. Additionally, the Punjab government has procured 730 more such machines at an investment of Rs 40 crore to further enhance urban sanitation infrastructure across the state.

Reiterating his commitment to urban cleanliness, the Chief Minister stressed that the government is focused on equipping all cities with modern sanitation tools to tackle sewage-related challenges effectively. He acknowledged that the existing infrastructure has struggled to keep pace with growing urbanization, but assured that his administration is addressing these gaps by introducing cutting-edge technology and expanding sanitation services.

Boost to Medical Education with New College in Sangrur

During the event, Mann also announced that all hurdles delaying the construction of a medical college in Sangrur have been successfully cleared, paving the way for the project’s commencement. He revealed that certain individuals with vested interests had attempted to obstruct the initiative, but the government has worked diligently to remove these roadblocks. Construction will begin soon, and alongside this, three new medical colleges will be established across Punjab to expand medical education opportunities and improve healthcare services.

Highlighting the importance of accessible medical education, Mann stressed that the new colleges will allow Punjab’s students to pursue medical careers within their home state, reducing dependency on institutions outside Punjab. This move is expected to not only boost the local healthcare workforce but also enhance medical services in the region.

UPSC Coaching Centers for Punjab’s Youth

In a significant step toward youth empowerment, Mann announced the establishment of eight new UPSC coaching centers across Punjab, including one in Sangrur. These centers will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities such as libraries, hostels, and structured training programs to prepare aspirants for competitive civil services examinations. The initiative seeks to bridge the gap for Punjab’s youth in national-level exams and enhance their career prospects in government services.

Emphasizing the need for quality education and equal opportunities, Mann stated that these centers will offer comprehensive training to ensure that Punjab’s students are well-prepared to compete at the highest levels. By providing structured guidance and mentorship, the state aims to nurture a new generation of civil servants and policymakers from Punjab.

Economic Empowerment for Women Through ‘PAHEL Project’

Mann also took the opportunity to highlight the success of the ‘PAHEL Project’ in Sangrur, which has been instrumental in empowering women economically. Under this initiative, women have been engaged in manufacturing uniforms for government and private school students in rural areas. The project has significantly improved the financial independence of women by providing them with sustainable employment opportunities.

Acknowledging the positive impact of the initiative, Mann announced plans to replicate the model in other parts of Punjab. The expansion of ‘PAHEL’ is expected to create more economic opportunities for rural women, enabling them to become financially self-reliant while contributing to the local economy.

Sadak Surakhiya Force Marks One Year, Reduces Road Accident Fatalities

Marking the completion of one year of the Sadak Surakhiya Force, Mann lauded its effectiveness in reducing road accident fatalities in Punjab. The initiative has resulted in a remarkable 48.10% reduction in road-related deaths compared to the previous year. Punjab has become the first state in India to introduce such a force, and its success has drawn interest from other states looking to implement similar models.

Mann underscored the importance of road safety measures and assured that the government remains committed to improving traffic management, enforcing regulations, and enhancing public safety on the roads. With the success of the Sadak Surakhiya Force, Punjab is setting an example for the rest of the country in implementing proactive measures to prevent road accidents.

Punjab’s Commitment to Holistic Development

With these latest initiatives, the Punjab government is taking significant strides toward comprehensive urban development, healthcare expansion, youth empowerment, and economic upliftment of women. The introduction of advanced sanitation machines, the establishment of new medical and coaching institutions, and the success of road safety initiatives are collectively shaping Punjab’s future under Mann’s leadership.

As these programs unfold, the state is witnessing a transformation aimed at improving the quality of life for its residents while fostering long-term growth and development.
