Saina Thakur, a student of Neugal Model Public School in Bhawarna, Kangra, has emerged as the topper of the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) Class 10 examination for the academic session 2024–25. With an outstanding score of 696 out of 700, Saina secured a remarkable 99.43%, becoming the top-performing student of the state.
Saina, the daughter of Sandeep Kumar, surpassed thousands of students in the examination, cementing her position at the pinnacle of the Class 10 results. The second position was claimed by Ridhima Sharma, a student of R.K. Senior Secondary School, Ghumarwin (Hamirpur), who scored 695 marks, achieving 99.29%.
The third position was shared by two high achievers — Mudita Sharma, daughter of Pankaj Sharma, from Modern Public Senior Secondary School, Swarghat, and Parnika Sharma, daughter of Ajay Kumar, from Minerva Senior Secondary School, Ghumarwin, who both scored 694 marks, bringing their result to an impressive 99.14%.
Pass Percentage and Total Candidates:
This year, a total of 95,495 students appeared for the HPBOSE Class 10 examination. Of these, 75,862 students successfully passed the exam, while 13,574 students failed. Additionally, 5,563 students were placed in the compartment category, marking an overall pass percentage of 69.8%. The results indicate a higher number of successful candidates this year, with an especially strong performance from female students. Notably, the top seven positions in the Class 10 examination were all secured by girls, highlighting the significant strides made by young women in education across the state.
Examinations and Logistics:
The Class 10 examinations were held from March 4 to March 22, 2025, across 2,300 examination centers spread throughout Himachal Pradesh. For logistical reasons, exams in the tribal areas of Lahaul-Spiti and Pangi were conducted on alternate schedules, ensuring accessibility for students in remote regions. Despite challenges, the exam process was executed smoothly, with the HPBOSE ensuring fair and timely assessments.
Revaluation and Certification Process:
Dr. Major Vishal Sharma, Secretary of HPBOSE, addressed the media after the results were declared, informing that students who wish to apply for revaluation of their answer sheets can do so by paying a fee of Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 800 for respective subjects. To facilitate easy access to results and official documents, students can now download their mark sheets directly from the official HPBOSE website and other authorized platforms. A significant improvement this year is the ability for students to download their certificates from DigiLocker. This new initiative has improved the certification process, allowing students to access their official documents online without waiting for the traditional paper-based release, a major improvement compared to previous years.
A Step Towards Digital Transformation:
The integration of DigiLocker for certificate downloads is a notable advancement in the education sector, aiming to reduce delays and make academic records more accessible. Students no longer have to wait for days after the announcement of results to receive their official documents, reflecting the HPBOSE’s commitment to digital transformation and enhancing the student experience.
