In a move aimed at strengthening security at the police headquarters, a new directive has been issued requiring all police personnel—from constables to DSPs—to obtain a visitor slip before entering the premises. Any police official or civilian found inside the headquarters without a valid visitor slip will not be attended to, and the officer interacting with them will be held accountable.
The directive was issued by DSP Headquarters P. Abhinandan to all unit in-charges, emphasizing the need for stricter security measures within the police headquarters. Before finalizing the order, DSP Abhinandan consulted with senior officers, as it was observed that police personnel were frequently seen wandering inside the headquarters without any valid reason.
Under the new rule, only employees who are officially stationed at the headquarters will be exempt from obtaining a visitor slip. All other personnel must procure one from the designated window before entering. The visitor slip will require details of the officer the police personnel intends to meet, ensuring that every visit is documented and monitored.
After meeting the concerned officer, the police personnel will be required to return the visitor slip to the designated window before leaving. Further tightening the protocol, DSP Abhinandan has instructed readers and unit in-charges not to summon any police officer or civilian visitor who does not possess a valid visitor slip. Any headquarters officer found interacting with unauthorized visitors will be held responsible for the breach of protocol.
Sources suggest that the need for this order arose after senior officers observed that several inspectors and DSPs would visit high-ranking officials without any substantial reason, often attempting to gain favor by offering formal salutes, hoping to secure promotions or unit assignments. This practice had become a frequent occurrence, leading to unnecessary disruptions and congestion within the headquarters.
By implementing this strict visitor slip system, authorities aim to enhance discipline within the force, improve accountability, and maintain the integrity of official meetings. The new security measure ensures that only authorized personnel have access to the headquarters, preventing unwarranted gatherings and misuse of official spaces.
This decision reflects the administration’s commitment to reinforcing security and ensuring that official visits to the headquarters are carried out with purpose and transparency. The implementation of this rule is expected to streamline operations, reduce unnecessary disruptions, and create a more structured and disciplined environment within the police force.
