BILASPUR : Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Kiran Bhadana, a 2017-batch officer, assumed charge as the new Deputy Commissioner of Bilaspur district in Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday. She was previously serving as Deputy Commissioner of Lahaul-Spiti.
After taking charge, Bhadana outlined key administrative priorities, emphasising the timely completion of ongoing railway and four-lane highway projects in the district. She said effective coordination with the departments concerned would be ensured to address bottlenecks and keep development works on schedule.
She also stressed the importance of ensuring that government welfare schemes reach eligible beneficiaries transparently and efficiently. Prompt resolution of public grievances and regular monitoring of development projects would remain important aspects of the district administration’s functioning, she said.
Tourism development, particularly around Gobind Sagar Lake, will also receive attention. The focus will be on promoting water-based tourism and recreational activities, developing the district’s natural attractions and improving facilities for visitors.
Before her appointment as Bilaspur Deputy Commissioner, Bhadana held several key positions, including Special Secretary for Multi-Purpose Projects and Power, Director of the Department of Information and Public Relations, and Director of the Department for the Empowerment of Scheduled Castes, Other Backward Classes, Minorities and Persons with Disabilities.
She has also served as Additional Deputy Commissioner in Shimla and Sub-Divisional Magistrate in Salooni and Nadaun.
With her assumption of charge, Bhadana takes over the district administration at a time when infrastructure development, public service delivery and tourism promotion remain significant priorities for Bilaspur.
