In a major welfare push, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday released financial assistance amounting to ₹14,17,18,354 under various schemes of the Himachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board. The announcement was made during the Jan Sankalp Sammelan held in Mandi, benefiting a total of 3,835 registered workers across the state.
Under the CM Single Window and Divyang Housing Scheme*, assistance of ₹19 lakh was provided to 19 beneficiaries, while ₹1.50 crore was disbursed to 117 families as death and funeral aid.
A significant allocation was made under education assistance, with ₹9.28 crore benefiting 3,040 students** from workers’ families, reaffirming the government’s commitment to ensuring access to education.
For marriage assistance, the state released ₹3.01 crore to support 600 beneficiaries**. Additionally, ₹1.73 lakh was sanctioned for 10 beneficiaries under maternity and paternity benefits.
Support of ₹1.80 lakh was extended to nine specially-abled children with mental disabilities, offering critical aid to their families.
Under the Mukhya Mantri Awas Yojana, ₹10.42 lakh was granted to 10 beneficiaries, while ₹3.53 lakh was provided to 30 workers as medical assistance.
The extensive disbursement under multiple welfare schemes highlights the state government’s continued efforts to uplift construction workers and ensure social security for their families.
