Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday announced that Hansi will be carved out as the state’s 23rd district, marking a significant administrative and developmental milestone for the region. Addressing a large public gathering during a development rally in Hansi, the Chief Minister said the official notification for district status will be issued within a week, after which Hansi will formally function as a separate revenue district.
The announcement was met with a strong public response, as residents welcomed the long-standing demand being fulfilled. The Chief Minister said district status will accelerate governance, improve public service delivery and bring administration closer to the people, particularly benefiting surrounding rural and semi-urban areas.
During the same event, Nayab Singh Saini inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth Rs 77.30 crore. These projects are aimed at strengthening civic infrastructure, improving connectivity and boosting overall urban and rural development in the Hansi region. He said the government is committed to ensuring that Hansi receives focused attention and sustained investment in the coming years.
Recalling the historical significance of Hansi, the Chief Minister paid tribute to its legacy as a land of sacrifice and bravery. He referred to its role during the 1857 First War of Independence and said the city has a proud past that deserves recognition and development aligned with its heritage. He noted that Hansi has been known by various names in history and once held administrative importance during ancient times.
Highlighting the development record, Saini said that over the past 11 years, development works worth more than Rs 1,000 crore have been carried out in the Hansi विधानसभा constituency alone. In contrast, he claimed that during the previous decade-long Congress rule, projects worth only around Rs 253 crore were executed in the area. According to him, the current government has ensured faster execution, transparent governance and balanced regional growth.
The Chief Minister also linked Hansi’s district status to the broader vision of building a developed Haryana. He said the state government has been working at triple speed to fulfil public commitments and that a large number of promises made during the assembly elections have already been completed or are under active implementation.
Speaking on governance reforms, Saini said steps such as digital land registration, abolition of outdated levies and direct benefit transfers have strengthened public trust in administration. He added that farmers, women, youth and economically weaker sections have all benefited from targeted welfare schemes, contributing to social stability and economic growth across Haryana.
Concluding his address, the Chief Minister said the creation of Hansi district reflects the government’s commitment to decentralisation and inclusive development. He asserted that despite political criticism, the state will continue to focus on infrastructure expansion, administrative efficiency and public welfare, ensuring that new districts like Hansi emerge as growth centres in Haryana’s development journey.
