Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini today reiterated his government’s unwavering commitment to equitable and inclusive development, highlighting a range of comprehensive welfare initiatives being implemented under the visionary ‘Haryana Ek, Haryanvi Ek’ scheme. These programs, spanning critical sectors from food security and energy access to healthcare and youth empowerment, underscore a holistic approach aimed at improving the quality of life for all citizens across the state, with a particular focus on vulnerable and marginalized sections.

A cornerstone of the government’s welfare agenda is ensuring food security for the economically weaker sections. Chief Minister Saini proudly announced that the state provides free monthly rations to 49 lakh Below Poverty Line (BPL) families. This initiative is crucial in alleviating hunger and ensuring that basic nutritional needs are met for the most vulnerable households, directly impacting millions of lives across Haryana. The provision of free rations serves as a fundamental safety net, demonstrating the government’s resolve to eliminate food insecurity and promote social equity.

In a significant stride towards improving household energy access and promoting cleaner cooking fuels, the Haryana government has facilitated over 15 lakh free LPG connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. This scheme, primarily targeting women from economically disadvantaged families, has been instrumental in reducing the burden of traditional and often hazardous cooking methods, thereby improving household health and environmental conditions. Complementing this, the government has also made LPG cylinders available at an affordable price of ₹500, further easing the financial strain on households and ensuring sustained access to clean energy. These initiatives align with national goals of energy access and empower women by reducing their daily toil and health risks associated with smoky kitchens.

The Ayushman Bharat-Chirayu Yojana stands as a beacon of the state’s commitment to robust healthcare for all. CM Saini highlighted that this scheme provides free medical treatment up to ₹5 lakh to over 20 lakh patients, including senior citizens. This comprehensive health insurance cover ensures that financial constraints do not impede access to quality medical care, providing immense relief to families facing serious health challenges. The Dayalu Yojana further extends this safety net by offering financial aid to low-income families in cases of death or disability, providing crucial support during times of crisis and demonstrating a compassionate approach to public welfare.

Beyond these fundamental provisions, the Haryana government is actively working towards social upliftment and equal opportunities for backward communities. A dedicated commission has been established to address their specific needs and concerns. The state has also implemented significant reforms in reservation policies, increasing the quota to 27% in education and government jobs for backward classes. Furthermore, the creamy layer income cap has been raised from ₹6 lakh to ₹8 lakh, ensuring that more deserving individuals from these communities can benefit from the reservation policies and pursue educational and professional growth.

Youth empowerment and education remain a core focus. CM Saini emphasized initiatives aimed at providing free schooling up to Class 12 for girls, along with various scholarships and waived university fees. These measures are designed to promote girls’ education, reduce dropout rates, and encourage higher education, thereby empowering young women to become self-reliant and contribute to the state’s development.

The Chief Minister also touched upon the state’s relentless efforts in combating drug abuse. On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, Sports Minister Gaurav Gautam administered an oath to the youth, urging them to stay away from narcotics. This ongoing campaign reflects the government’s determination to create a “Nasha Mukt Haryana” (Drug-Free Haryana) through public awareness, enforcement, and rehabilitation efforts, safeguarding the future of its young generation.

In summary, the welfare schemes highlighted by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini paint a picture of a government dedicated to comprehensive development. By addressing fundamental needs, promoting social justice, empowering women and youth, and tackling societal challenges like drug abuse, Haryana aims to foster an environment where every citizen has the opportunity to thrive and contribute to a prosperous and developed state, embodying the spirit of ‘Haryana Ek, Haryanvi Ek’.
