Chandigarh — Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday said that the decisive mandate in the recently concluded Block Samiti and Zila Parishad elections has once again reaffirmed the people’s trust in the Aam Aadmi Party’s governance model, which is rooted in development, honesty and public welfare. Addressing a press conference after the declaration of results, the Chief Minister described the outcome as a clear endorsement of the work carried out by his government at the grassroots level.
Bhagwant Mann congratulated all the newly elected representatives and urged them to rise above political bias while serving the people. He emphasized that local bodies form the backbone of democracy and that the responsibility of the winning candidates is now to work inclusively, keeping public interest above party considerations. According to the Chief Minister, the scale of the victory reflects public satisfaction with the government’s policies and delivery on promises.
Referring to the growing footprint of the Aam Aadmi Party, Mann said the party’s “family” is expanding not only in Punjab but across the country. He noted that AAP has compelled traditional political parties to rethink their approach by shifting the focus from rhetoric to performance. He said that AAP’s emphasis on work-based politics has transformed political discourse nationwide, strengthening the foundations of honest governance and accountability.
The Chief Minister said the opposition had repeatedly misread the public mood, but the results of the local body elections had once again dispelled their misconceptions. He stated that the people of Punjab rewarded the government for its consistent efforts in improving basic services, strengthening local governance and ensuring transparency. Mann asserted that the mandate was not accidental but a direct response to visible development work carried out over the past period.
Speaking on a personal note, Bhagwant Mann recalled the support and affection he has consistently received from the people of his native village, Satoj. He said no matter how high a position one attains, staying connected to one’s roots remains essential. The Chief Minister announced that he would visit his village Gurughar to express gratitude to the residents and offer his respects, acknowledging their role in his journey.
Reiterating his party’s ideological position, Mann said the Aam Aadmi Party contests elections on the basis of development and performance, not on religion, caste or communal considerations. He stressed that politics of division has no place in Punjab and that the people have repeatedly shown their preference for governance that delivers results on the ground. He attributed the party’s strong showing in the elections to this clear and consistent approach.
Looking ahead, the Chief Minister said the Aam Aadmi Party would continue to contest upcoming elections on the basis of a development report card. He added that the government would now work with renewed determination and double the commitment to public service, ensuring that the faith shown by voters translates into further progress at the village and district levels.
Bhagwant Mann concluded by stating that the verdict of the Block Samiti and Zila Parishad elections is not just a political victory but a reaffirmation of people-centric governance, signaling that Punjab’s electorate remains firmly aligned with transparency, development and honest leadership.
