Student’s request for Rachauli school building fulfilled; funds approved for bridges, road improvements, crash barriers and public facilities under ‘Sarkar Gaon Ke Dwar’ programme
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has moved to fulfil commitments made to students and local residents during his visits to Bhatwari in the Rohru Assembly constituency and Kasha-Pat in the Rampur constituency, with the state government releasing ₹15.75 crore for nine development works in Shimla district.

Of the total allocation, ₹4 crore has been released for the construction of new school buildings at Rachauli and Kasha-Pat, reflecting the government’s focus on improving educational infrastructure in rural areas. The remaining funds will support essential public works, including bridges, footbridges, road upgrades, crash barriers and community facilities.
The decisions follow demands raised by residents during the Chief Minister’s outreach programme, ‘Sarkar Gaon Ke Dwar’, which aims to bring the administration closer to people and accelerate action on local development needs.
Student’s Appeal Leads to ₹2 Crore for Rachauli School
One of the key announcements concerns Government Senior Secondary School, Rachauli. During an interaction with students at Rampur School, a student had requested financial assistance of ₹2 crore for a new school building. The Chief Minister responded positively to the demand, and the allocation has now received approval from the Planning Department.
A further ₹2 crore has been released for a new building at Kasha-Pat School. The proposed construction is expected to strengthen educational facilities and provide students with a better learning environment.
The allocations underline the importance of school infrastructure in remote and rural parts of Himachal Pradesh, where improved buildings and facilities can contribute to a more supportive environment for students and teachers.
₹11.75 Crore for Roads, Bridges and Community Infrastructure
Alongside the education-related allocations, the government has released funds for a range of infrastructure projects in Rohru and Rampur.
In the Tanganu-Janglik Panchayat area of Rohru, ₹4 crore has been released for the construction of a bridge over Sundru Khad in response to a demand from local residents. Another ₹1 crore has been allocated for Barshil Bridge, while ₹25 lakh has been released for a footbridge at Shishara.
The projects are intended to improve local connectivity and facilitate movement for residents in areas where access across streams and difficult terrain can be a challenge.
The government has also released ₹50 lakh for the construction of an Ambedkar Bhawan in Rohru. The Planning Department has forwarded the sanction letter to the Public Works Department for further action.
In Kasha-Pat, ₹2 crore has been released for installing crash barriers along the Dhandol-Kasha-Pat stretch. A further ₹2 crore has been sanctioned for improving the Jabal-Khabal road and installing crash barriers along the route.
These works are expected to strengthen road safety and improve transport infrastructure in the region, particularly along stretches where protective measures are required.
‘Sarkar Gaon Ke Dwar’ Focuses on Delivery, Not Just Announcements
The release of funds reflects the state government’s effort to translate commitments made during public interactions into sanctioned development works. Under the ‘Sarkar Gaon Ke Dwar’ programme, the Chief Minister has been meeting residents, listening to their concerns and directing departments to address local demands.
The initiative is designed to provide people with a more direct channel to the administration, allowing issues related to infrastructure and public services to be raised before senior officials and the political leadership.
The latest allocations indicate progress on nine works identified during the Chief Minister’s visits to Bhatwari and Kasha-Pat. The next crucial step will be timely implementation by the departments concerned, ensuring that the approved funds lead to completed projects and tangible benefits for residents.
Focus on Rural Development and Public Needs
For communities in the hill state, reliable roads, safe bridges and accessible public facilities are essential to everyday life. Improved connectivity can help residents reach schools, healthcare facilities and markets more easily, while better school buildings can support educational opportunities for children in remote areas.
By releasing funds against commitments made during public outreach, the Sukhu government is seeking to reinforce its emphasis on responsive and people-oriented administration.
The impact of the initiative will ultimately depend on the pace and quality of execution, timely completion of projects and the extent to which the new infrastructure meets the needs of local communities.
