Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, during his ongoing tour of Kangra district, inspected the construction work of a dairy processing plant being set up at Dhagwar with an estimated cost of ₹225 crore. He directed officials and executing agencies to ensure that the project is completed within the stipulated timeframe.

The upcoming facility will initially process 1.5 lakh litres of milk per day, with plans to expand its capacity to 3 lakh litres per day in the future. The plant will produce a range of dairy products including paneer, butter, ice cream, and other value-added items.
The project is expected to provide direct benefits to dairy farmers across Kangra, Una, Hamirpur, and Chamba districts by improving procurement systems and enhancing their income. It is also being seen as a major step towards strengthening the rural economy in the region.
In addition, the plant is likely to generate employment and self-employment opportunities for local youth, contributing to economic activity and skill development in the area.
Officials said the initiative aligns with the state government’s focus on boosting the dairy sector and creating sustainable livelihood options in Himachal Pradesh.
