Continuing its drive against narcotics under the “Zero Tolerance Policy,” the Dehra District Police has arrested two persons and seized 883 grams of charas from a car during a naka checking operation in the Khundian area.
According to Superintendent of Police, Dehra, Mayank Chaudhary, a police team from Khundian Police Station intercepted an Alto car bearing registration number HP01C-2277 at Surani during routine checking and barricading on Thursday.
The vehicle was stopped on suspicion and searched in accordance with legal procedures. During the search, police recovered 883 grams of charas from the possession of the occupants.
The accused have been identified as:
Bhikham Ram (55), son of late Nand Lal.
Kamlesh Kumar (26), son of Bhikham Ram both of Village Bhalei, Post Office Lesbi, Tehsil Churah, District Chamba, Himachal Pradesh.
Police have registered a case under FIR No. 21/2026 dated May 21, 2026, under relevant sections of the NDPS Act at Khundian Police Station.
Both accused were arrested on the spot, while the vehicle used in the alleged smuggling has also been taken into police custody. Police said further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and intended destination of the contraband.
