The accused, identified as Yugpreet Singh, Jaskaran Singh, and Harjot Singh, all from Rahon village, face charges under various sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Explosive Substances Act. The investigation revealed a broader conspiracy, with KZF chief Ranjit Singh alias Neeta and his UK-based operative Jagjit Singh Lahiri alias Jagga, actively radicalizing and funding terror activities. The NIA found that Jagga recruited Yugpreet Singh through a UK acquaintance, providing over ₹4.36 lakh in terror funds via Canada-based entities. Yugpreet, in turn, recruited the other two accused, and the trio executed the grenade attack, having received the explosive from their foreign handlers. The NIA’s ongoing probe aims to thwart KZF’s persistent attempts to carry out terror attacks on law enforcement establishments, sensitive installations, and targeted killings across Punjab. This development underscores the persistent cross-border dimension of security challenges facing the state.
