Punjab’s Development and People’s Trust Central to AAP’s Vision, Says Arvind Kejriwal

Arvind Kejriwal, National Convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party, on Thursday visited Sri Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar along with his wife and Bhagwant Mann, Chief Minister of Punjab, where both leaders addressed the media and spoke about the party’s governance and development plans for the state.

The visit came after a court dismissed allegations in the Delhi liquor policy case, providing relief to the AAP leadership. Speaking to reporters, Kejriwal said that the party had faced a prolonged period of political attacks and allegations over the last few years, during which several of its senior leaders were imprisoned.

He said that five top leaders of the party had been jailed on what he described as fabricated charges, and even a sitting Chief Minister had been taken from his residence late at night and sent to prison. However, he noted that the court has now rejected the allegations and observed that there was not sufficient evidence even to proceed with a trial.

Kejriwal said that despite these challenges, the AAP government has continued to work for the welfare of the people, particularly in Punjab. According to him, the state government has implemented several initiatives in sectors such as education, healthcare and social welfare over the past four years.

Highlighting the performance of the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab, Kejriwal said that the administration has focused on improving schools, strengthening hospitals and expanding healthcare facilities. He also mentioned new initiatives aimed at supporting women and improving public services across the state.

He said the trust and support of the people of Punjab have been crucial in enabling the government to implement its policies effectively. According to him, when ordinary people receive public support, they are able to stand strong even against powerful political forces.

Kejriwal also indicated that the state government has prepared an extensive roadmap for the coming year to further accelerate development in Punjab. He said that infrastructure development and job creation for the youth will remain key priorities for the government.

Referring to upcoming economic initiatives, Kejriwal noted that the Invest Punjab programme is beginning shortly and has already started attracting interest from major industrialists across the country. He said that several industries are now exploring investment opportunities in Punjab, which could help boost economic growth and generate employment.

Expressing confidence in the future of the state, Kejriwal said that with the support of the people and the efforts of the state government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Punjab is moving towards a new phase of development.

Later, in a post on social media platform X, Kejriwal reiterated that he and Bhagwant Mann, along with their families, had paid obeisance at Sri Harmandir Sahib during their visit to Amritsar and emphasised that the court’s decision to dismiss the allegations reaffirmed the belief that truth ultimately prevails.
