Dharamshala/Shimla:
In a significant development within the Himachal Pradesh Congress, the District Congress Committee (DCC) Kangra has expelled senior party leader Neeraj Bharti from the primary membership of the Congress for a period of six years, citing activities allegedly detrimental to party discipline and organisational interests.
The decision was announced through an official communication issued by Kangra DCC President Anurag Sharma. According to the letter, the action was taken after reviewing a previously issued show-cause notice and subsequent developments related to Bharti’s conduct within the party.
The order stated that Bharti’s actions were found to be inconsistent with organisational discipline and the broader interests of the Congress party. As a result, the disciplinary action has been enforced with immediate effect.
The communication further noted that Bharti’s resignation had already been accepted by Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee President Vinay Kumar. Following a review of the matter, the party leadership decided to proceed with his expulsion from the organisation for six years.
Reacting to the development, Neeraj Bharti criticised the state government and party leadership, alleging that the Congress government had disappointed many dedicated workers who had stood by the party during challenging times and played a crucial role in its electoral success.
Bharti claimed that committed grassroots workers had been sidelined despite their contributions to strengthening the party and helping it return to power in the state.
The expulsion marks the latest episode in the ongoing internal tensions within the Himachal Pradesh Congress and is likely to generate further political discussion in the coming days.
