Indian actress Mouni Roy turned heads at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival as she unveiled the poster and teaser of her upcoming Indo-American film Bombay Stories during a special appearance at the global cinema event.
Making the moment even more memorable was her striking couture ensemble inspired by the traditional Gujarati Patola weaving style. The actress took to Instagram to share her excitement, calling the Cannes unveiling a “big moment” in her career while expressing pride in wearing a handcrafted creation designed by fashion designer Puja Shah.
The custom-made gown stood out for its intricate embroidery and deep-rooted Indian craftsmanship. According to the actress, artisans spent nearly 300 hours embroidering the outfit, transforming the traditional Patola aesthetic into a contemporary red-carpet statement. The detailed craftsmanship reflected the richness of Gujarat’s iconic textile heritage while blending seamlessly with modern couture fashion.

Sharing her gratitude, the actress praised the artisans behind the creation and highlighted the beauty of Patola work, describing it as “stunning.” Her appearance quickly drew attention online, with fashion enthusiasts applauding the fusion of Indian heritage textiles with international glamour at Cannes.
The look also added to the growing presence of Indian handloom and traditional artistry on global fashion platforms, where celebrities are increasingly choosing heritage-inspired ensembles to represent Indian culture on international stages.
